Aneeqa calls herself a Soulidarity stewardess as well as a stewardess for societal regeneration having multi-functional experience in a wide variety of business settings and social sectors.
She is a trained Action Learning Training & Research Facilitator working closely with Trans4m Communiversity Associates TCA) world-wide communities bringing in her Eastern Sufi impulse to Trans4m’s fold. She terms herself a So(u)lidarity Process Facilitator and a stewardess for societal transformation and social innovation having multi-functional experience in a wide variety of business settings and sectors.
Drawing from her postulation of the Hikmah of Soulidarity (wisdom of soulful Solidarity), she has conceived a 4E's (Ethics, Epistemology, Erudition, Economics & Enterprise) framework for a Soulidarity Economic model which takes its inspiration from the philosophy of Mawakhat - a Prophetic tradition of spiritual brotherhood.
Thereafter, she conceived a Hikmah (wisdom) praxis drawing on Pakistani Muslim philosopher and intellectual of his time Allam Muhammad Iqbal's philosophy of Ishq-Ilm & Amal, alongside Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib's 5Is Mawakhat Paradigm of Iman (faith), Infaq (disbursement), Ihsan (soulidarity), Ikhlas (sincerity) & Ikhuwah (brotherhood).
Her Soulidarity Hikmah (wisdom), therefore, constitutes; Ihsan/soulidarity, Ishq/love – Ilm/wisdom –Amal/action and ; as the soul (intention) of Aneeqa’s Soulidarity Economy.
Her first book; Integral Finance: Akhuwat - A Case Study of the Solidarity Economy has been published by Routledge as part of Trans4m’s Transformation and Innovation series. The book is co-authored by Aneeqa Malik as TRANS4M Fellow and Dr. Amjad Saqib, founder of the world’s largest Qard-e-Hasan (benevolent loans) organisation; Akhuwat Foundation, aiming to alleviate abject poverty in Pakistan by providing interest-free loans to micro-entrepreneurs.
She, along with Ronnie Lessem, has initiated a process of Community Activation Learning & Development (CLAD) foundation program, in Pakistan, which was launched in Jan 2019 and successfully completed in June 2019.
Currently, she is developing an innovative digital course on Islamic Community Finance on an Islamic Finance digital platform, in association with TAIF Digital.
Professor Ronnie Samanyanga Lessem, born in Zimbabwe and now based in the UK, was Co-Founder of TRANS4M (France) which has since evolved, together with Dr. Anselm Adodo and Aneeqa Malik, into Trans4m Communiversity Associates (TCA) in the UK, which focuses on the regeneration of particular societies. It is currently mainly active, through its emerging Communiversities, in Southern Africa (South Africa, Zimbabwe), West Africa (Nigeria), the Middle East (Egypt, Jordan), the Near East (Pakistan), and Europe Slovenia, UK). Hitherto Ronnie Lessem has launched projects on European management, with IMD in Switzerland, European-ness and Innovation, with Roland Berger Foundation in Germany, African management, with Wits Graduate Business School in South Africa, and Arab as well as Islamic Management, with TEAM International in Cairo and Jordan. He studied economics at the University of Zimbabwe, the economics of industry at the London School of Economics, Corporate Planning at Harvard Business School, and has since written some 50 books, the most recent, with Anselm Adodo and Tony Bradley, on The Idea of the Communiversity.
After completion of her Chartered Accountancy Professional Qualification from India, Shaista worked and audited in many of the multi-national companies in India, almost two decades ago. She has also successfully completed her Qualification in Computer Audit (QiCA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors UK and Ireland. In December 2021, Shaista was presented with Womani Award for 2021 by Cambridge International Financial Advisory. Shaista was named in the top 50 influential women in Islamic Business & Finance.
She also retrained as a lecturer and completed her PGCE from the University of Greenwich in 2007 and channelled her love of teaching and interest in the accounting field and has lectured at Birmingham City University since 2008.
Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib is the Founder and Chairperson of Akhuwat, world’s largest Qard-e-Hasan Trust. He has also worked as a consultant for various international development agencies, such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Labor Organization (ILO), UNICEF, the World Bank, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), USAID and DFID.
He is a development practitioner, philanthropist, writer, and a former civil servant. Muhammad’s areas of expertise include poverty alleviation, microfinance, social mobilization, and education management. Besides his pro-bono services to many public sector organizations, Muhammad has been a consultant for international agencies including the Asian Development Bank, International Labour Organization, UNICEF, and World Bank. The President of Pakistan honoured him with Sitara-e-Imtiaz. He has also received the 31st Commonwealth Points of Light Award, the Life Time Achievement Award 2015 from Thomson Reuters, the Human Rights Society of Pakistan, and Global Forum for Islamic Finance. He is the author of seven books, including the story of Akhuwat, with a focus on development. Muhammad is a medical graduate from the King Edward Medical College (Pakistan) and recipient of Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship for Master’s degree in Public Administration from the American University, Washington-USA.
Mark Anielski (B.A., BScF, MScFE) is an economic strategist specializing in measuring the well-being and happiness of nations, communities and businesses. Mark holds three degrees from the University of Alberta: Economics (1981), Forest Science (1984), and Masters of Science in Forest Economics (1991). For ten years (2003-2012) he was professor of corporate social responsibility and social entrepreneurship at the University of Alberta’s School of Business. He has lectured internationally on the economics of happiness and well-being in Canada, the US, China, Tahiti, The Netherlands and Austria.
Alejandro Cañadas is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Bolte School of Business at Mount St. Mary's University in Maryland, USA. He is also the director of the Center for Integral Ecology, Economy, and iMpact (CIEEM). Alejandro Cañadas' current research interest is on Social Impact Investment and Integral Ecology & Economics.
